“Advancing Science and Technology towards Inclusive Growth (ASTIG) in Region 6” is this year’s theme of Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVAARRDEC) Techno Forum, Exhibits and 26th Research Symposium.

This annual activity was participated by Bureau of Plant Industry-Guimaras National Crop Research, Development and Production Support Center being one of the consortium member agencies of WESVAARRDEC.  The Center took part in booth exhibits, where important technologies and information like good agricultural practice (GAP) on mango, National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) registered strains of Guimaras ‘Carabao’ mango and production of low-sugar and sulfite-free dried mangoes were showcased.  Different information, education and communication (IEC) materials on matured technologies on mango in the form of brochures were also distributed to interested individuals.

Moreover, the Center’s completed research; “Biological control of fruit flies using Beauveria bassiana through autodissemination” was presented during the research symposium, where it bagged 3rd price on biological science research category.

The Center’s participation to this activity is part of strengthening its linkages and collaboration with other research agencies in Region 6 and to promote and disseminate important information and technologies on mango.
