HIGH VALUE CROPS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) is one of the banner programs of the Department of Agriculture created to help address food security, poverty alleviation and sustainable growth. It helps to promote the production, processing, marketing and distribution of high value crops. Strategically, HVCDP helps to increase income, create livelihood opportunity and contribute to national agricultural development of the Philippines.

            Increase production, income and livelihood opportunities among small producers

            Have access to affordable, safe and healthy food

TARGET SERVICE AREAS

CONVERGENCE AREAS - areas identified by the convergence initiatives of the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

STRATEGIC PRODUCTION ZONES - key production areas in the country with a significant contribution to overall gross regional production and areas/zones in which agro-climatic condition is conducive to production.

FARM HOUSEHOLDS - include backyard farms and areas which are not more than 5 has. (for fruits and plantation crops) and less than 1 ha. (for vegetables).

  Our dear farmers are warned of the five pests to attack during the 2nd Quarter of the year. This is based on the historical data submitted by regions. Our Crop Pest Management Division listed areas where infestations may possibly occur. Bureau of Plant Industry OIC, Vivencio R. Mamaril issued a memorandum to all DA Regional Directors to alert the staff to closely monitor pests’ occurrence.     OIC Director Vivencio R. Mamaril, PhD of the Bureau of Plant Industry(BPI) alerts all DA Regional Executive Directors, BPI Centers, National Plant Quarantine Services Division, National Seed Quality Control Services Division and Crop Research and Production Support Division for possible pests to occur during the 1st quarter of the year to closely monitor the listed areas. Rodent, brown plant hopper, stem borer, rice black bug and bacterial leaf blight are among the top pests.
